Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is hitting the road this weekend on the first leg of a national tour to hold town halls in Republican districts where representatives aren’t holding public meetings of their own.

Walz stopped in Iowa several times in 2023 as a surrogate for then-President Joe Biden, floating around the state fair, fundraising for local Democrats and holding media availabilities to contrast Biden with the Republican candidates campaigning in the run-up to Iowa’s GOP caucuses.

Minnesota governor and former vice presidential candidate Tim Walz took the stage in Des Moines Friday for his first town hall since he and Kamala Harris lost the presidential election last year.
