The numbers involved in France’s largest child abuse trial are staggering: 299 alleged victims, sexually abused in 10 hospitals and clinics over 25 years - all by one doctor, prosecutors say.

Joël Le Scouarnec methodically documented his pedophilia and sex crimes in diaries. The average age of the 299 victims at the time of their abuse was 11. His trial will run for over four months.

Joël Le Scouarnec, 74, will face hundreds of victims during a four-month trial in Vannes, Brittany. Most of them were children, who were his patients.
