In a move signalling both defiance and restraint, China raised its tariffs again on Friday. Its finance ministry condemned the US actions as “completely unilateral bullying and coercion.”

President Trump paused his plan to increase tariffs on countries around the world, with the exception of China, a dramatic reversal after days of market turmoil that led to a surge of relief on Wall Street.

The White House says up to 70 countries are pushing for talks, but China is retaliating by upping their tariff on U.S. goods to 84%.
