The U.S. Border Patrol named Walter N. Slosar the interim chief of the El Paso Sector, which includes El Paso County and New Mexico.

According to a social media post by the 27th Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, Michael W. Banks, they dismantled the operation by arresting four smugglers and apprehending eight undocumented migrants, some from Mexico and others from Ecuador and Guatemala.

Walter N. Slosar is now head of the sector that stretches from the eastern edge of El Paso County to the New Mexico-Arizona state line. Slosar will replace Anthony “Scott” Good, who was named head of the El Paso Sector in March 2023.

The border shooting occurred about 10 p.m. when Border Patrol agents from the Clint station came under fire south of San Elizario, about 7.5 miles east of the Ysleta Port of Entry, CBP said in a statement. The Mexican military responded to the location.
