After widespread criticism, the Defense Department has begun restoring links to Navajo Code Talkers on its websites.

The Pentagon called the removal of Navajo Code Talker pages from its websites a “mistake,” vowing to restore content related to the Marines who helped win World War II.

The latest move came when the Defense Department removed articles about Navajo Code Talkers from its website, according to Miltary.com. When questioned Monday about the removal of pages honoring contributions by women and minority groups in the military, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell defended the decisions, a portion of the report read.
