Nintendo’s Switch 2 is bigger and better than its predecessor of eight years past as the video game developer pushes to bring its brand into “a new era” where social experiences are at the forefront.

Nintendo just held a livestream to drop more details on the forthcoming Switch 2 console. At the very end, it revealed a brand-new 3D platformer starring Donkey Kong. This is the first game of its type since Donkey Kong 64 hit the Nintendo 64 all the way back in 1999.

But it's not so much of the price of the Switch 2 but its games that have been raising eyebrows, with the new Mario Kart World that is being released alongside it coming in at a whopping £74.99 for a physical copy.

Nintendo Direct presentation will be live-streamed at 9 a.m. EDT. A release date and price have yet to be announced, but Nintendo said earlier this year the console will hit the market in 2025. The Switch 2 is Nintendo's latest hybrid console that can be played in hand with all of the nostalgia of a Game Boy,

Wednesday was the official reveal of the Switch 2. Nintendo revealed that its next console will come out on June 5 and have a starting price of $450. In its hour-long Nintendo Direct, a lot of games were shown and I can safely say I'm excited.

More than a million people watched online as details of the long awaited successor to the hit console were announced.
