Satellite images show the destruction in Myanmar after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake rocked the country killing more than 1,600 people.

The 7.7-magnitude quake caused widespread damage in Myanmar, a country already in chaos because of civil war. It was also felt in neighboring countries, including Thailand.

Just after sunrise on Saturday, a satellite set its long-range camera on the city of Mandalay in Myanmar, not far from the epicenter of Friday’s 7.7 magnitude earthquake that devastated the Southeast Asian country’s second-largest city.

The death toll from the devastating earthquake that rattled Burma and Thailand on Friday has risen sharply to more than 1,650 victims. Nearly 140 people still missing, Burma's ruling military said Saturday.
